What You Bring to the Role 

 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent quantitative field and 3+ years of experience in a similar Big Data Engineer role 

  • Demonstrated ability to build processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependent, and workload management 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to project manage and work with cross-functional teams 

  • Working SQL knowledge with relational databases, query authoring, as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases 

  • Availability to travel (80% after Training portion) and live in the U.S. 

  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills  

  • Excited by being a data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up 

  • Looking to be optimizing or even re-designing a company’s data architecture to support next generation and data initiatives 

  • Ability to be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products 

  • Nice-to-have: 

  • Relational SQL and NoSQL databases  

  • Object-oriented/Object function scripting languages such as Python, Scala, etc. 

JOB TITLE: Big Data Architect Subject Matter Expert

JOB DUTIES: Act as a primary resource and provide technical support to our employees working in consulting roles on Big Data and Hadoop architecture design and development projects for our clients where they are tasked with developing and implementing process and system innovation and enhancements based upon Hadoop platforms. Train consultants on best practices in Big Data and Hadoop applications by assessing their skills and assisting in their technical development ensuring their ability to support projects to contribute to Big Data projects. Support all technical subject matters on Big Data and Hadoop development, while also creating Big Data and Hadoop solutions internally. Assist with technical recruiting by interviewing potential employee/consultants for Big Data positions. Design, develop and maintain the company’s Big Data training materials. Prepare consultant/employees for interviews for specific assignments involving Big Data and Hadoop. Prepare mock interview situations for the consultant/employees to enhance the learning process. Serve as a primary technical support resource for individuals working on a variety of projects (this requires the ability to support remotely). Interact with the company’s Executive and Sales teams to ensure that projects and employees are appropriately matched to avoid technical failure. Conduct extensive research and implementation of latest and existing Big Data and Hadoop development technologies, utilizing Big Data documentation and other external resources. Participate in technical collaboration including Agile scrum meetings. Ensure Big Data Engineers’ and Architects’ success by managing allocation of resources and technical tools. Work with Hadoop, HDFS, Map reduce, HIVE, Sqoop, flume, HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, Kafka, Elastic search, Scala, Python, Bash Scripting, Linux, Oracle, MySQL, AWS.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field plus two years’ experience as Computer Programmer Analyst, Associate Specialist or a related position working with Big Data. Foreign degree equivalent based upon a combination of education, training and/or experience is acceptable. Experience to include working with Hadoop, HDFS, Map reduce, HIVE, Sqoop, flume, HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, Kafka, Elastic search, Scala, Python, Bash Scripting, Linux, Oracle, MySQL, AWS.  

HOURS: 40 hours per week, M-F, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
